Grannies Kitchen: Scones

Hi Everyone,

I have a special treat for you today a recipe from my granny's kitchen, I love baking and cooking as you have seen in my other blog posts and I remember staying at my grannies at the weekend and waking up ready to bake some apple pie, pavlova, scones or anything that took a fancy.

So on this morning we decided to bake some scones.

Materials
Scales
Mixer
Measuring Jug
Spoon
Whisk

Ingredients
12oz Flour
1/2 tsp Salt
1 Egg
1/4 pint Buttermilk
3oz Caster Sugar
2oz Stork Butter

So first things first you will need to measure out all the ingredients. Then set your oven to Gas 4.
Sieve the flour and salt into the mixer and add the stork mix on a low speed with the paddle attachment until it resembles breadcrumbs. Add in the sugar and any fruit you want to add now.

Add the egg to the buttermilk and mix until combined change the paddle to the dough hook (paddle makes the mix to soft) then slowly pour the buttermilk mixture in. Once combined flour a bench and turn mixture on the the flour.

Knead slightly and press into shape for cutting about 1/2-3/4 inch thick.

Once you have cut the scones out place them on a foil lined baking tray and place in oven for 20-25 minutes. If you wish you can glaze the scones before they go into the oven with milk or egg wash.

So now they are out of the oven leave to cool then they are ready to eat (or like me eat them a little hot they are delicious that way).

So I hope you enjoyed the visit to my granny's kitchen (PS we will be back soon because that strawberry jam is also made by my granny and granda and maybe i'm biased but its the best jam you can get).

New Tanya Burr Lipgloss

Hi Everyone,

I know that I have just done a review of the Tanya Burr collection, however she has brought out a new range of lip glosses to add to her ever growing cosmetics range and I thought it was worth giving them the once over since I liked the previous ones so much.

There are 8 new colours as you can see from the pictures and although some of them look really dark these are quite sheer (see the swatches). In general, there are two finishes to these lipglosses - a shimmer finish and a creme finish. The shimmer finishes have fine glitter particles which reflect light, giving the appearcne of fuller lips. The cremem finihes are much more pigmented than the shimmer one, so if you are in need of a more intesnse lipgloss, the creme finihes are perfect for you.

Daydream is a pale nude with fine flecks of gold glitter and a shimmer finish.

Lunch Date is not too dissimilar from Chic in the previous collection this has a creme finish.

I Found Nemo is a soft coral and perfect for the summer months and an absolute favorite of mine another creme finish

Sparkling Dewdrops is a peachy pink creme finish with flecks of glitter and a bit more sheer.

Aphrodite is an intense red/coral with pink glitter. Creme finish.

Berry Picking is the color of berry stained or bitten lips. Has fine gold glitter particles shimmering through it. Shimmer finish.

Chocolate Fondue is a sheer chocolate brown. I really thought this would be deeper than what it is it took quite a while to get this intensity on the swatch. The finish is somewhere between a sheer and a creme finish.

Enchanted Forest is a deep wine reddish purple. Creme finish.

These lip glosses retail at £6.99 and can be found on these sites,

Tanya burr lipglosses

Hi Everyone,

I have a very exciting blog today. I am going to be doing a review on Tanya Burr's lip glosses.

I only bought two of the shades at the start to see if they are were as good as everyone was saying, and I can defiantly say that they are an amazing product the colour payoff is great and they last really well on the lips as well they also smell really nice and don't have that horrible sticky feeling.

There are a 10 amazing shades for every skin tone and colour, I don't doubt anyone could find one they love.

These are the paler colours and out of these colours the only one I don't really like is First Date I just think it is far to pale for me and it doesn't really suit my skin tone. I do wear the others quite often, Champagne Toast is a really nice almost clear with slight shimmer, Chic and  Afternoon Tea are more of a pink with no shimmer almost like a creme finish. Aurora is another pink shade but has a very subtle shimmer in the gloss.

I like all of these shades Smile, Dream, Sparkle is a slightly pink tinted shimmer gloss. Picnic in the Park is more of a coral pink, Exotic Island is a beautiful magenta colour. Let's Travel the world is an orange-red and Vampire Kiss is a true red gloss. All of the colours look great on their own because of the great colour payoff and can be worn over lipstick as well to enhance the lip colour you have on.

If you want to try these our there are some links to buy Tanya Burr's lip glosses.
